A Job at the Zoo

Told to the webmaster by another good friend, Graham White.

A chap gets a keeper's job at his local zoo. He's very excited and enthusiastically reports to the Head Keeper on the first day.

The Head Keeper tells him to start by tidying up around the apiary. He sets off there, but arrives to find all the bees dead on the ground. He rushes back to the Head Keeper, "The bees are all dead - they're all lying on the ground."

"Oh dear, not again" says the Head Keeper. "This happens occasionally, just sweep them up, crush them a bit and feed them to the fish."

The chap does as instructed. A few hours later he passes the fish pool and notices all the fish are floating on the surface ... dead!

Again he reports to the Head Keeper. "Oh dear, Oh dear" says the Head Keeper, "Not again!". "Go and get a net, pull out the fish and feed them to the chimpanzees."

The chap does as he is told, but on passing the monkey house later in the day is dismayed to find all the chimpanzees dead on the floor.

Back he goes to the Head Keeper. "Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear" says the Head Keeper, "Not again!". "Gather up the chimpanzees, cut them into big pieces, put them in a wheelbarrow and take them over to the lions."

As he is barrowing the first batch over to the big cats he hears one lion say to the next one, "Bloody meals on wheels! Looks like we've got fish, chimps and mushy bees again!"
